I began practicing yoga 11 years ago out of a strong sense of longing for the flexibility and ease of movement that I remembered from years of gymnastics and ballet. What I did not expect in the beginning was the deeper awareness that would develop along with the flexibility. At this stage of my practice I most enjoy the subtle nuances of each pose that I have come to know and continue to unravel. This awareness of mind and body has developed as much from my personal practice as from teaching yoga. Teaching is new to my now dual careers, the other side of which is in the art world, and so I continue to learn as much from my students as they do from me, and maybe more. It is the mind-body connection that I hope to pass on to my students.
